Attorney-at-law and patent attorney, he has developed expertise over the past 20 years in commercial law and IT law. He specialises in contract negotiations, particularly in the IT sector, and advises on intellectual property, data protection, e-commerce, and consumer protection.
He is the CEO of the AI LAW TECH Foundation (ailawtech.org), a think tank that brings together IT lawyers and technology experts to conduct interdisciplinary research.
Roman Bieda served on the panel of experts of the Digitalisation Council, established by the Minister for Digitalisation during its second term.
He headed the subgroup on the legal aspects of AI within the panel of experts advising the Minister for Digitalisation on the drafting of the assumptions for Poland’s AI strategy.
He led the Working Party on the Ethical and Legal Aspects of AI, organised by the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Poland. He was also a member of the Steering Committee of the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2021).
Roman Bieda is a member of the Social Team of Experts appointed by the President of the Personal Data Protection Office.
Roman Bieda combines his professional practice with lecturing. He lectures on contract law, intellectual property law, and IT/AI law at Kozminski University.
He supervises academic research and lectures on the postgraduate programmes in IT/IP Law, Cybersecurity Management, and AI Law, all offered by Kozminski University. He has authored papers on IT law, AI law, and data protection law.
