Dr. Heike Riel is an IBM Fellow and Head of Quantum & AI Technologies at IBM Research, and lead IBM Research Quantum EMEA. She drives research and innovation in quantum computing, AI, nanotechnology, and advanced information technologies. A globally recognized scientist and technology leader, she has spent her career translating fundamental scientific breakthroughs into impactful technologies and business value.
She has authored more than 140 scientific publications, holds over 50 patents, and was named an IBM Fellow, the company’s highest technical honor.
She is a member of the Swiss Quantum Commission and President of the German Physical Society (DPG) where she promotes scientific excellence, innovation, and collaboration between academia and industry.
