Local government official and lawyer, Mayor of Gdańsk since 2019, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, studied law at the University of Gdańsk (2006) and Paris Lodron University in Salzburg (2004–2005).
She began her career as an assistant to Mayor Paweł Adamowicz in 2006, gaining valuable experience. She was involved in preparing Gdańsk for UEFA EURO 2012™ (2008–2009) and played a significant role in the creation of the European Solidarity Center (2009–2014).
Following the assassination of Mayor Paweł Adamowicz on January 13, 2019, she assumed the duties of acting mayor of Gdańsk. On March 11, 2019, after winning the elections, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz was sworn in as the first female mayor in the history of Gdańsk.
She serves as vice-president of the management board of the Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area and is a member of the management board of the Union of Polish Metropolises foundation. Additionally, she is a Polish delegate to the European Committee of the Regions, an advisory body of the EU. In October 2019, she received the Princess of Asturias Award, known as the Spanish Nobel Prize, in the category of Concord on behalf of the citizens of Gdańsk. The jury recognized Gdańsk’s commitment to solidarity, defense of freedom, human rights, and the protection of peace.
On April 7, 2024, she was re-elected as the Mayor of Gdańsk, winning in the first round with a result of 57.95%.
She is a devoted single mother, raising her daughter Zosia (born 2008).
