Mirosław Wróblewski – President of the Personal Data Protection Office. A graduate in law and political science (specialisation – international relations). He is the author of nearly 100 articles and academic publications on constitutional law, international law, European law, and the protection of human rights.
Between 1997 and 2002 he worked in the media sector, and from 2002 to 2006 he served in the Office of European Integration and worked as a director general of the voivodship office. From 2007 to 2024 he was an employee of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights (the Ombudsman), where he served as Director of the Constitutional, International and European Law Department.
In 2009-2010, he was the coordinator of the Programme for Cooperation of Ombudsmen of the EU Eastern Partnership Countries initiated by the Commissioner and between 2015 and 2019 a Junior Project Leader in the EU Twinning Project. He was an expert at the invitation of international institutions (including the Council of Europe, the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI), the European Commission, the UN High Representative for Human Rights) as well as national institutions (in Europe and Asia). He repeatedly took part in the preparation of statements and represented the Commissioner for Human Rights in court proceedings, before the Constitutional Tribunal, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
He was a member of the EU Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) Management Board from 2012 to 2017. In 2012 he was elected as Chairman of the FRA Budget Committee, and in 2014 he was elected as one of 4 members of the FRA Executive Committee. From 2019 to 25 January 2024 he was a member of the Board of the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI). In October 2023 he became a Senior Research Fellow at the Central European University in Budapest, Democracy Institute, Rule of Law Group.
Member of the Polish European Law Association, the Polish Constitutional Association and the Prof. Zbigniew Hołda Association. He was also an expert of other NGOs, like the Foundation of Law and Society INPRIS and the Foundation AI LAW TECH. He is also a co-founder of the Virtual Chair of Law and Ethics, an initiative gathering universities and public new-tech institutions aiming at analysing an artificial intelligence.
