Konrad Banaszek received a PhD degree in physics from the University of Warsaw in 2000. He held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Rochester, USA, and the University of Oxford, United Kingdom followed by faculty appointments at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun and at the University of Warsaw.
He is an author or a co-author of over 130 scientific contributions dealing with various aspects of quantum physics and optical sciences, in particular development of novel techniques for communication, sensing, and imaging operating at or beyond standard quantum limits. He is a corresponding member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a Fellow member of Optica.
He serves as the scientific coordinator of the QuantERA funding initiative, which groups 39 research funding organisations from 31 countries and is coordinated by the National Science Centre Poland. He is a co-founder and scientific advisor at Quantum Optical Technologies sp. z o.o.
