Prof. Marcin Marciniak is a distinguished mathematician at the University of Gdańsk, where he currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Informatics. He is also a professor at the Institute of Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics, leading the Division of Mathematical Methods of Physics.
He earned his PhD in 1998 with a dissertation on quantum groups, and his academic career has since been rooted in mathematical physics, with a particular focus on functional analysis, operator algebras, and their applications in quantum mechanics and quantum information theory. His research has contributed significantly to the understanding of positive maps, quantum steering, and quantum entanglement, with numerous publications in high-impact journals.
Prof. Marciniak is also at the forefront of interdisciplinary innovation. He leads the Offshore Digital Twins project, which models sea wave dynamics around wind farms using stochastic differential equations and artificial intelligence.
From 2020 to 2024, he served as Deputy Dean for Research, where he played a key role in strengthening collaboration between academia and industry. Elected Dean in 2024, he continues to champion research excellence, academic leadership, and strategic partnerships that bridge science and business.
